We bought the cottage in the late sumer of 2003. It was subject to major refurbishment in the early 1970's and had since 1973 following a brief period of inhabitation by a local young couple, been owned and used as a weekend cottage by a Parisian family. From 1993 to our purchasing it, it had all but been abandoned though still much loved by its owners. When we set about the task of giving the place a thorough clean, we discovered that it actually needed serious restoration. What follows is that story.....
